NEW POETRY OUT NOW: 3

May, 2018

My third poetry book Tría: Anthrópon Istoría (can be literally read as 3: Humans' History) is the hybrid POP project about the repetition of ego in social media; out now by Koukounari Editions. Poems that explore next door super heroes, poems filled with strong choruses, likes falling down like rain in their life networks, colours and every single type of photographs of their evermoving egos - that don't stop being repeated, like that song you can't get out of your head. Andy Warhol used to say: once you got POP, you could never see a sign the same way again. 3 seems to say: once you got POP, you could never see a poem the same way again.' Available in bookstores in Greece and online worldwide. Follow hashtag #3popbook for more!

'New poetry performance piece 'Soil' was part of the European Poetry Festival 2019 and was performed first time at Austrian Cultural Forum London on 10 April. Soil explores the identity of a world citizen dreaming of the future, amid documented anti-cosmopolitanism, and is inspired by the work of Austrian pioneer Franz West. Thanks to English poet SJ Fowler for inviting me!'

MUSIC

My new English poem Samsara, turned into a song, premiered at Café Oto, London, 24th May 2018. The poem was commissioned by British composer Alex Mills and performed by music group The Hermes Experiment. Alex and I worked closely together for months to craft a new take on the cycle of rebirth, with my lyrics contributing to Alex's musical exploration.

I LOVE ATHENS (DEAR CALENDAR...)

December 17 and January 18 were busy months and I don’t mean busy with just (lots of) festive food and parties!!! In December I gave a full new performance of Είναι (Íne) at Free Thinking Zone in Athens. Very enjoyable to see old and new friends coming to the famous bookstore to experience what I created as personal prayer. The use of glasses of water were predominant in the performance, as exploration of mortality, same with the context of my second poetry book. The day after the performance I had the honour to be invited to speak about one of the most key Greek poets of the second half of last century, Yannis Kontos, at Poems’ and Crimes Art Bar. Kontos marked an era of political change in Greece, which influenced the evolution of his experimentation. Big thanks to Angeliki Lalou for this special event. January show me performing again from Íne at Ianos bookstore downtown and discussing with a diverse panel about language and releasing my poetry in Greece while living in London. Pleased to see literature blog στίγμαΛόγου celebrating their first five years and asking diaspora to start key discussions. Big thanks to Christina Linardaki for the invitation.

NEOFUTURIST AT HEART

The work of Konstantinos Papacharalampos in the fields of poetry, performance and installation explores a future of expanding and liberating possibilities, where technological advances, the environment and human rights find a new balance of co-existence. Born in Kavala, Greece, in 1988, Konstantinos released poetry project K - On (Entefktirio ed., 2011) and took part in 1st Festival of New Writers organized by Greek National Centre of Books. His experimental poems have appeared in leading Greek magazines and installed in situ in Action Field Kodra. He has performed poems from his second book Είναι (Íne, [FRMK] ed., 2015) in Athens, Thessaloniki (Lola Nikolaou Gallery) and London (Curious Body Soufflé exhibition, Velorose Gallery) in Greek and English. In 2015 the Futures: Poetry of the Greek Crisis anthology of UK publisher Penned in the Margins (edited by literary theorist Theodoros Chiotis) featured a poem from Είναι. Other poems from Konstantinos have been translated in Russian and associated with the financial crisis and the Greek avant-garde scene. Selected work was also translated in German for Dichtung mit Biss (Freie Universität Berlin: ed. Romiosini/ CeMoG, 2018). In parallel to his poetry he works in urban development and regeneration in London, UK. He holds a Diploma in Rural and Surveying Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and an MSc Real Estate from CASS Business School (London).

EINAI

December, 2015

Είναι (Íne, [FRMK] ed., 2015, Greece) explores those things in life seen as happening simultaneously. The book's title means 'is/ being' and is the second project from Konstantinos after his 2011 breakthrough. Using contemporary art, mapping, meditation techniques and the disco and indie music scenes as its key perceptional references and visual and sound backgrounds, the poems in Είναι create an elliptic and experimental world of dot-based unity. Printed in 200 numbered copies as its first edition, Είναι was well received in major bookstores in Greece days after its release. The project further saw critical acclaim from contemporary critics and coverage in popular publications. Konstantinos has presented this project with customized performances in London, Athens and Thessaloniki, while the book was featured in the 2016 Frankfurt Book Fair. Είναι poems have been translated in English (featured in the UK-released Futures: Poetry of the Greek Crisis anthology) and Russian, featured in a 2016 special issue of Pollen magazine.

K - ON

April, 2011

K - On (Entefktirio ed., 2011, Greece) is a concept book that explores new starts living in a futuristic city, inviting readers to facilitate their own breakthroughs with the use of topology, minimalism and dialogue. Poems from K - On were translated in German and Russian and associated with the financial crisis and the Greek visual poetry experimentations. K - On is the first poetry project from Konstantinos.
